Beautiful Staffordshire Porcelain Mantle Dogs
We are so ecstatic about these we cannot hold it in!! These little are referred to as mantle dogs, because they have been popularized in Great Britain and Scotland during the 19th Century most often having them displayed on fireplace mantles as a main feature. These are highly collectible and sought after!
Each set includes one of them having the authentic markings on the bottom stating "Beswick England 1378-7" as well the original green & gold sticker.
There are 2 sets of these in MINT condition here (we are having a very hard time not just keeping them for ourselves!)
These are what we strongly believe from our extensive research ~ 1970's Miniature Beswick England Staffordshire Porcelain. White & Gold Hand Painted Mantle Dogs. The spaniels dog breed was especially popular. This is attributed to royalty favouring the King Charles Spaniel breed. In Scotland, they were colloquially termed "Wally dugs" (aka Wally Dogs).
